1. Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using 1099 Pilot ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
1099 Pilot is a tax estimation and expense tracking tool designed for freelancers and self-employed individuals. The App provides:
- Estimated quarterly tax payment calculations
- Income and expense tracking
- Receipt scanning and categorization
- Deduction tracking and suggestions
- Tax breakdown summaries
3. Important Tax Disclaimer
1099 Pilot is not a tax preparation service, a tax advisor, or a licensed CPA. The App provides tax estimates for informational and planning purposes only. These estimates are approximations based on publicly available IRS tax brackets, self-employment tax rates, and standard deduction amounts.
You understand and agree that:
- Tax estimates may differ from your actual tax liability
- The App does not account for all possible tax situations, credits, or deductions
- State tax estimates use simplified calculations and may vary from actual amounts
- You are solely responsible for your own tax filings and payments to the IRS and state tax authorities
- You should consult a qualified tax professional for advice specific to your situation
4. Subscriptions and Payments
1099 Pilot offers a free tier and paid subscription plans ("Pro"). Subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions
- No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods
- Prices may change with reasonable notice; existing subscriptions renew at the price at the time of purchase
5. Your Data
You retain full ownership of all data you enter into the App. We do not claim any rights to your financial information. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Distribute, sublicense, or resell access to the App
- Use the App to provide tax advice or services to others
7. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, features, and content, is owned by 1099 Pilot and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, 1099 Pilot shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Inaccurate tax estimates or calculations
- Missed tax deadlines or underpayment penalties
- Loss of data
- Any decisions made based on information provided by the App
Our total liability for any claim arising from the use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Warranty Disclaimer
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless 1099 Pilot from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the App, including any tax-related consequences.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
