The Short Version
We don't collect your financial data. Period. Your income, expenses, and tax information stay on your device. We have no servers storing your numbers, no analytics tracking your finances, and no third-party access to your data.
Data Storage
All financial data you enter into 1099 Pilot — including income records, expense records, receipt images, tax profile settings, and quarterly payment records — is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure, encrypted storage frameworks (SwiftData and the iOS keychain where applicable).
We do not operate backend servers that receive, process, or store your financial data.
iCloud Sync
If you choose to enable iCloud sync, your data is transmitted between your devices using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. This data is:
- Encrypted in transit using TLS
- Encrypted at rest on Apple's servers
- Accessible only through your Apple ID
- Not accessible to 1099 Pilot or any third party
You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the app's Preferences. iCloud sync is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Camera and Photo Library
1099 Pilot requests camera access solely for the purpose of scanning receipts. Receipt images are:
- Processed entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework
- Never uploaded to external servers
- Stored only on your device (and in your iCloud if sync is enabled)
Photo library access is requested only if you choose to import a receipt image from your existing photos. We do not access, scan, or analyze any photos beyond those you explicitly select.
Location Data
If you enable automatic mileage tracking, 1099 Pilot uses your device's GPS to detect and record business trips. Location data is:
- Processed and stored entirely on your device
- Never transmitted to our servers or any third party
- Used solely for calculating mileage deductions
You can disable location access at any time in iOS Settings or in the app's Preferences.
Analytics
We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics to understand which features are used most and improve the app. This data:
- Contains no financial information
- Cannot be linked to you personally
- Includes only feature usage patterns (e.g., "receipt scanner opened 500 times this week across all users")
Third Parties
We do not sell, share, rent, or provide your data to any third parties. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs that track individual users. We do not display advertisements.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. Payment information is handled by Apple and is never shared with us. We receive only a confirmation that a subscription is active — we do not receive your credit card number, Apple ID, or billing address.
Data Deletion
Since your data is stored on your device, you can delete all data at any time by:
- Using the "Reset" option in the app's Preferences
- Deleting the app from your device
If you have iCloud sync enabled, deleting the app will also remove synced data from iCloud after Apple's standard retention period.
Children's Privacy
1099 Pilot is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
