Getting Started
New to 1099 Pilot? Here's how to set up in under 2 minutes:
- Open the app and swipe through the onboarding screens
- Go to More > Settings and set your filing status, state, and any W-2 income
- Start adding income entries as you get paid
- Add expenses and scan receipts as you spend
- Check your Dashboard to see your estimated quarterly payment
Managing Your Subscription
Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store:
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions
- Find 1099 Pilot and tap to manage or cancel
You can also restore purchases from More > Settings > Subscription > Restore Purchases in the app.
Tax Estimate Accuracy
Our estimates use actual 2024 IRS brackets and rates. For best accuracy:
- Log all income sources, not just the largest ones
- Track expenses as they happen (don't batch at month-end)
- Set your correct filing status and state in Settings
- Include any W-2 income from other jobs
State tax estimates use simplified effective rates. For precise state calculations, consult your state's Department of Revenue or a local CPA.
Data & Privacy
Your data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync (which uses Apple's encrypted infrastructure). We cannot see, access, or recover your data. If you delete the app, your data is gone — so enable iCloud sync if you want a backup.
